They are using a digital camera to snap an image "through the viewfinder" of another camera - especially old cameras with cheap, dirty, and distorted viewfinders (not SLR's)!. Just a way to get an interesting image effect!. You would need to put the old film camera on a tripod and compose the shot in that camera's viewfinder (the eye hole), then focus your digital camera on infinity and point the lens into the viewfinder of that old camera where your eye had gone!. This works really well with old brownie cameras and pocket fold out cameras that you can find on ebay and in antique stores for $10!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Through the optical view finder--is when you compose and focus a shot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
