Question: Does it make sense to pay hundred million dollars for a famous painting!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
no!. i thought that when i went to see the mona lisa!.

it was a crowded room and loads of people were taking pictures and it was just a tiny A3 (i think) canvas with a picture of a lady on!. and the background's squif and she's not even that pretty!.

so i thought why is she worth so much!?!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

for me it doesn't!. instead of paying that much for a painting which you can't use anyway (you and other people just stare at it), why not just give the hundred million dollars to charities or to scientific probes on how to save the earth!. at least if you do either of this, a lot of people will benefit and it will also give you a sense of satisfaction knowing that you were able to help others!. by giving, you receive more for yourself!. you will not gain anything from buying a painting which costs that much!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

most of the time anyone who can afford to pay this much for a painting is buying it as an investment, believing the value will increase!. Either that or it's a Getty adding to his collection!. Either way if he has the money I suppose it's up to him what he doe with it !. Chelsea owner Abramovich just bought Lucien Freud's painting fro £17 million!. He might intend keeping it for a couple of years and then selling it!. or he might give it to his Russian model girlfriend Daria Zhukova who is opening an art gallery in Moscow, who knows , he might be the generous typeWww@QuestionHome@Com

It depends on how much money you have and if you can handle a loss of 100 million dollars and a gain of a painting!. And it depends on how much you truly like the painting!. You need to know if its worth it!. If you love it and you are willing to spend the money on it, than go for it! Hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

If I were the PAINTER, it would be a simply nonsense, no doubt!. Yet, as a non-painter or simply as an admirer, I would not recommend anyone to pay such amount! Well, I know, persons like us do not go to buy those-----in fact "buying art-works" has gone to the so-called 'perverted' persons! They've money, they LOVE(!) to buy it anyway!. Though I enjoy it from the newspapers or the media!. Well, does that mean I dishonor those ART WORKS!? Never, indeed!. I become HAPPY when I come to know that the 'valued art-work' is been sold at HIGHER rate!. Well, what is your question!? Making any sense!? My foot! It's simply the "HOTNESS" of the moneyed men! (That's our term about the illegal money-owner, when we say, HOTNESS)Www@QuestionHome@Com

well i think that it depends on what painting that you are buying like if you are buying like the monalisa u would pay a heack of a lot more for it but yea it douse make some sence in a way!.!.!.

but i all comes down to what painting it is and how famous the person is who painted it

hope i helped

Not really as far as I am concerned, think of all the good you could do with that money or you could put it on your wall!.

But it's up to people to do what they want with their own money!. I also think that it's more of a status symbol than enjoying the art!. They are endless fast cars and mansions but there are limited Van Goths!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If it is highly coveted by all the peerage of multi billionaires, then yes!.

Capital is relative as is its expenditure !.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The way economics work here is baffling to my mind!.!.!.!.

Collecting 'Art' is considered a big investment (with manyfold returns)!. And that's what makes it out-of-reach for REAL art lovers!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you want to buy a painting worth 1 million why not take the 1 million and pin it on your wall!.!.!. for me it does not make sense but if it causes satisfaction why not!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, I love paintings and art, but that price is absolutely ridiculous!. And most of those painters are dead anyway, so it won't help them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Absolutely not there are better things in the world you can buy than that!. So the answer is no :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

no it is pretty silly, paint your own picture there is a lot more personal meaning in that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If thats what you love and you have the money why not!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you can afford it!.!.!.!. and you like the painting!.!.!. then yes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
