I think the quality of the tool is certainly helpful in producing a great product!. However, I think the operator (photographer) of that tool has to have an eye for composition!. My husband takes pictures as a side job and I would say he has the eye, but also the computer skills to enhance, correct, etc!. what the camera didn't originally do!. So, yeah, to some degree a great camera makes the great photographer, but the photographer has to master the functions of the camera and be creative with his/her subjects and know just the right moment to capture!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Great photos were taken decades ago and I'm sure they didn't use cameras better than the basic ones you get today!. I guess it depends on what you want to photograph!. You can't use a point and shoot to take pictures of a lion 50meters away!. Long fast zoom lenses help with sports,action but for scenic shots any camera would just about do!. I think a great photographer has to be able to be an artist thinking what will make this photo great as he/she takes it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, not hardly!. I've seen people with some high dollar kit that really can't take a good, let alone great, photo!. Composition and such are out of reach of the greatest cameras!.

The photographer makes the shot!. A great photographer can take what is at hand a make a beautiful, technically sound photo!. A great camera is just gravy!. I have a new appreciation for my 30D, but I've taken some great shots with a Canon AE1-Program that I picked up on eBay!. Its not the tool, but the one who holds it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think that yes a good quality cam is a great help BUT i think that you also need to see and no the best to take a photo that will stand out
its a creative thing and to work a pro cam and take a cool and different shot can sometimes be hard and some people just don't have it!.!. but getting a good quality cam is defiantly the first stepWww@QuestionHome@Com

Well as a fine artist I know that the best brushes, canvas and paint won't make me a genius!.!.!.but they will sure maximize my chances at producing the best work of which I am capable!.
