Question: List of Different Kinds of Paint Brushes!?
Can someone give me a list of paint brushes!? Like the flat ones, and the round ones, and etc!.!. Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Paint Brush Shapes:

Round- round and comes to a point good for detail!.

Brights - flat with a square head good for laying down areas of paint and Impressionism!.

Filberts - flat with rounded head good for laying down areas and for blending!. (this is my favorite shape)

Edgebert - Like a filbert with a more flat, shorter and springy head!. Can carry more paint than filbert!.

Fan - Flat with a fan shaped head good for blending!.

Dagger - Flat with and sharp angular head good for striping

Angular - Flat with a angular head!. Good for short and long stokes!.

Mop - Round with squarish head especially good for water colors laying down washes!.

Cat's Tongue - like a filbert with a point!. Does kind of a mix between a filbert and round!.

Liner - Flat, very long comes to a point good for making lines!.

Stipple - Round with a very square head!. Good for stencils and texturing!.

They come made differently too:
Natural Hair Soft:
Sable, Squirrel, Fitch, Badger
Good for water colors and for blending oil paints

Natural Hair hard:
Bristle
Good for oil paints and acrylics, for just about every stage of painting!. Can use worn softer bristle brushes for blending

Synthetic
Good for mostly acrylic and some oil painting!. I rarely use!.

Sizes:
Sizes usually start at 0 and range up to as high as 30!. Extra-small brushes are represented by multiples of 0 (which can be listed as 00, 000, 0000 or 2/0, 3/0, 4/0, etc!.)!. The more zeroes there are, the smaller the brush is!. The most common brush sizes are 3/0, 2/0, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, and 20!.

I like to have several of my favorites so I can load them with a color and not have to clean them more than once in a painting session!. Bristles are generally cheaper than their softer cousins!. Try to at least get a higher quality of brush so they don't fall apart in your painting!. Some good brands are:

Escoda, Davinchi and Richeson in that order!.
