Question: Can Photoshop save a bad image!?
I'm not talking about poorly composed images or boring subjects, but do you think an otherwise dull picture can be save by photo editing techniques!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

photoshop is a pretty deep program!.!.!. probably!.!.!. that is my answer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Definitely!. Just think of all the people who can't do proper manual exposures but still try!. That can be fixed rather well in photoshop!. Then again, if they can fix it, they can probably take a proper picture!. But it really can help!. Like fixing skin in portraits!. Sometimes you have a subject with skin that is really distracting, blur it in a new layer, play with the opacity of the layers, add some new texture to the skin and gee wiz, we have a much better picture!. I think it's also very useful for people who shoot things that don't come around again!. If you do nature for instance, you could decide to wait for the next opportunity however long that takes, but if you shoot for a fashion, they want this model in that dress on this date, if something went wrong with the shoot, photoshop becomes a life saver!. So, yes it can save some bad images, but it can also make bad images, and it will never save them all!. I think basically the question is how much change you can make before it becomes too visible, and the image is too "damaged"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The answer where you like it or not is usually 'no'!. The truth is, it's very hard to polish a turd!. That's what my teacher used to tell me!. And another teacher of mine always told me that a good refrence piece is everything!. A bad refrence is going to make for a bad result!. If you want to use the majority of a bad image, you in for a long hard road, and a lot of times after hours of work, you will realize that, that road is a dead end!. I'm not usually this negitive, but this is the truth!. If your long to just use part of a photo, or you want to make it look unrealistic, then you probably will be able to pull it off!.
All I can say, is good luck, and I really mean that!.
Hope I could help!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

grr, for some reason when i tried to post a second ago, YA had a glitch, and now i have to retype what i wrote!.!.!.!.

ok,

I personally think that yes, using an photo editing program to manipulate the photo, can help with a photo that may be less than ideal!.!.!.!.!. i had a picture that i took of a friend while i lived in Cuba, that the picture, just wasnt that great!.!.!. the colors were wierd, there was to much haze and glare, so i changed it to b&w, and fiddled with the levels a bit, and made a much better photo!.!.!.!. one that both me, and the person in the picture really enjoyed!.!.!.!. heres a before and after of that particular shot

GIGO (garbage in, garbage out) applies for photography more than most any other art form!.

You can do amazing things in Photoshop, but, and it's a big but, you can only detract from the information in the file or remap it, you can do so much more if the file information is the perfect to start with!.

I really think so!.!.!. From what I have done by just messing around, changing lighting, saturation, and coloring can do a lot for a picture!. BUT, sometimes!.!.!. there just isn't much to work with!. I think it just depends on how bad the image is to begin with!. If a picture is horrible, all the editing in the world cannot save it! Good Luck!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Actually, one of the things Photoshop does best is cropping, which improves poorly-composed and boring images!.

Otherwise, playing with levels, colour balance and saturation is about all you can do, and if that won't help, the image is toast!.

Yes!. I've saved many pictures that would otherwise be nearly unusable!. Playing around with lighting, contrast, sharpness, and color balance will help you get an idea of what you are capable of fixing in a really dull picture!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

To some extent, like if was really dark then nope , but if it had decent light and everything is in focus, then i think if the person that edit's it is creative , then maybe !.Www@QuestionHome@Com

better the source image is (lighting, focus et cetera) - better the final result will be

"fixing" or "saving" images is the realm or poor photography
