This will give you the basics!. First of all, your two images should be set to the same resolution or you will have odd things happen when you move the image of the person onto the background in the other image!.

Now, for each image, once it is open, go to File>Save As and save the file with a new name (it can be simple like [File name]Rev1 or [File Name]Working copy, whatever works for you)!. For the file type, save as a native Photoshop file (!.psd)!. This way you will be using copies of your original images, which is always a good way to go, in case something gets really messed up, it doesn't ruin the originals!.

You want to take just the person out of the original image!. So you need to select the person!. IF the person is against a very contrasty, simple color background, you can use the Magic wand!. But this usually doesn't work all that well!. Instead, try using the polygon lasso tool (under the lasso tool, if you click it in the Tools palette, you will find the polygon lasso tool, and the magnetic lasso tool!. The magnetic lasso tool works well if there is good contrast between the subject and the background!. If not it gets finicky)!. You can use the polygon lasso tool to select carefully around the edges of your person!. If you make a successful selection (zooming in and taking your time helps, and be sure to complete the selection), you then want to go to Select>Modify!. You can smooth the selection, you can contract it, and so on!. You can also add a feather, I would suggest just a couple of pixels worth, which will soften the edge a bit so you don't get a really harsh edge!.

Another tool you can use is the Pen tool!. When you select the Pen tool there are three boxes up at the top in the Options bar (the bar that goes across the top just under the menus)!. Make sure the middle one is selected!. This is the Paths selection!. What you are going to do is trace a path around your person with the pen tool!. Take your time, click and pull to create curves around curved areas, just click and move the mouse and click again where you want straight areas!. The Pen tool takes practice but it is much more accurate for edges!. Again complete your selection (last click should be on the spot you started!.) Now, on the Tools palette you will see something that looks like an arrow cursor!. This is the paths selection tool!. The hollow arrow (click on the solid arrow to show the hollow one) is the direct selection tool, use this to click on the Path you just created to show the anchor points!. You can select and adjust these anchor points to make adjustments to the path!.

Once you are satisfied with this, go to your Layers palette and look for a tab behind it that says Paths!. If that's not showing, go to Window>Paths and click on that to bring up the Paths palette!. You will see a thumbnail showing the path you just traced around your person, it will look like white silhouette of what you selected against a gray background!. Now, at the bottom of the Paths Palette, there is something that looks like a dotted circle!. Click on this and your Path will now become a selection! (You will see the "marching ants" around the person!.) You can make the same adjustments to the selection using the Select>Modify I mentioned above!. AND if you aren't happy with the selection you can change it BACK to a path by clicking the icon to the right of the dotted circle, the one with lines coming out to each side with dots on them (this is the Convert to Path button)!. Make some more adjustments with the Direct Selection tool again (you may have to click the Path with the Path Selection tool, the sold arrow, first) and then click on the dotted circle icon on the Paths palette to convert once more to a selection!.

Okay, now that you have your selection, click on the Move tool in the top of the Tools palette and (you should have both the person image and the background scenic image open) drag the selection onto the background image!.

This will put the person on his or her own layer on top of the scenic background!. You may have to do some color and exposure adjustments, even selecting areas of the person to adjust lighting to more properly match the background lighting!. You can use dodge and burn tools too to do this, but do so with low settings!.

Once you are satisfied, flatten the image, do a SAVE AS and rename again, unless you don't need to keep your layered copy!. If you want to upload this, you probably need to save it as !.jpg, which if you do a SAVE AS and select the!.jpg file type from the drop down menu in the SAVE dialog, will automatically save as a flattened copy (!.jpg files do not support layers, which is why I had you do the original save as to a native Photoshop file at the beginning!.)

Whew, that was little long, but hopefully it will work for you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

First, use the magic wand to remove everything surrounding the person's head!. When you do take the person's pic, make sure that the background is solid so that it is easier to use the magic wand in Phtoshop to remove it!.

Once you have the pic and have removed the background, click on invert mask, and copy it to a new page!. Save it!. Now choose a background, open the person's pic, cut and paste it to your background!.
You can resize the person to your liking and after, combine all the layers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

make sure both images are of the same resolution , higher preferred for clarity to edit with, open both images, copy and paste person over background, select around person , invert selection and erase, zoom in and erase around edges, you could hide background to see only person, also add white layer underneath for viewing edges, once done, view background, and duplicate layer, you can then move person around , resize, adjust brightness /contrast settings, and hue saturation to match background, also option to adjust back layer to match person, there are other image settings you can adjust , you could save as psd, and save copy as jpg

I agree with Left-T!.!. one other suggestion would be if your magic wand tool is picking up to many colors or not enough try changing the thresh hold of your tool!. If you have version 7 or higher, the thresh hold adjuster should be located on the top menu bar right under file, edit, view etc!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
