Question: When talking about artists!?
What is meant in reference to "The Masters"!? Someone e-mailed me saying "take what you learn from the masters and turn it into something new!." But who are the masters!.!.!.are they only the really famous artists from over 100 years ago, like da vinci and michaelangelo!.!.!.do you include van gogh and monet!? what about more recent claims to fame such as Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat!? Is there any artist still alive that we can refer to as a master!? Perhaps, Jack Vetrianno!? or Damien Hurst!? What is everyones opinion on what makes a "Master" of the arts!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

When talking about artists, if the word is capitalized (the Masters) it means DaVinci, Michelangelo, and the 'greats' from that 'era!.' If the word is NOT capitalized (masters) it refers to the 'greats' from more 'modern' times !.!.!. and it's up to you to decide whether people like Van Gogh and Monet are Masters or simply masters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I believe that ones like the ones always will be remembered , like the Impressionists;

Ew, you know that it's the end of the world when people consider glammed out, arrogant celebrity-artists like Damien Hurst to be a master!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would be very careful to mark as The masters any artist after 1945, because from that time the age of celebrities began, and the celebrity does not mean Master at all :-)
