Question: !!!!Advice from Graphic tablet owners-Intuos 3!!!!!!?
Asked this question a while back but now i have the moeny i want to make sure i spend it on the right thing!.

I want a Intuos 3 graphics tablet to: draw and paint my work, mainly for the paitning side as i will scan in my work!. It will be used for personal work and A-level but hopefully for the future aswell!. Looking around it as always seemed that people feel the bigger the drawing surface, the better!. However many people feel that a smaller size lets you go into more detail!.

This leaves me with the choice of A4 and A5, i have been leaning to the a5 for a while now, but i worry about the future and bigger work!. Like i said i would like someone experienced to give advice on this!. CheersWww@QuestionHome@Com

Personally i have the Bamboo fun, in the a5 size!. Im a Art and Design Student, and doing a Graphic Design a-level, and it has been the perfect size for that!.

One thing to consider is the shape of your monitor ( i!.e!. is it widescreen, or somewhat squarish), each point on the tablet corrsponds to a point on the screen, it's not like a mouse where you can move the mouse and the cursor be in the same place!. So look for one that has a similar shape to your screen!.

Size also depends of how close up you like to work, i was worried about getting the smaller one, because, like you i was thinging long term, rather than a short term solution!. But by zooming into areas where i want to use detail i find that i can produce just as good images as if i had a bigger one!.

Smaller ones are also more portable, i use mine with a laptop and its fits easily into the case along side it!.

i have briefly used a larger one and although not that different to the smaller versions, i found that i was almost getting lost, as it was soo big, and a bit difficult to get in the right place, as with a laptop you can't just move you keyboard out of the way!.

theres also practical reasons for getting the different sizes, such as storage space and cost!. My bamboo cost £70, but it came with Adobe Photoshop elements, and ArtRage2!. The larger one costs about £130!. Both of these programmes are much easier to use with the tablet as you can adjust pressure etc!.

(i no its not really what u wanted to know but i would recommend these programmes if you wanted to digitally paint things)

think thats all

hope it helps

ooohh just thought - i guess an advantage to using a larger one is that many of them can be used in conjunction with a mouseWww@QuestionHome@Com

I wouldn't agree that a smaller tablet lets you go into more detail!. What lets you go into more detail is zooming in or picking a higher resolution!.

Anyway, I think an A5 sized tablet would suffice any purposes you have in mind, if you're looking for a more serious illustrator's outlook, A4 might be better, but since you're not, go with the smaller, less expensive one!. :)

I have an Intuos3 6x8 in!. tablet and it's plenty big!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
