Contemporary means "modern", or belonging to the same time or period!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A technial definition of the term, "contemporary" would mean art of the current time, such as works being created now, or within a few years of the present time!.

"Modern" art is a term that has only been in use for about one hundred years, so that, artiists such as Picasso, Klee, Pollack, Warhol and such would be included when speaking about modern art!. However, none of them would be considered "contemporary" artists, since all of them are long dead!.

Thomas Kinkaide is a popular artist, still producing work!. He would, clearly, be considered "contemporary!."Www@QuestionHome@Com
