Question: Is fibreglass any good for this!?
I have always wanted to make a cast of my body like this to hang on my bedroom wall as its intimate, I did think of using the plaster strips onto my skin and then peeling off the mould and smoothing it out with a clay like substance and then filling that with plaster of paris but I dont know exactly what materials to use, my nan just suggested using fibreglass straight onto my skin and then sanding it down and I would have a plastic 'body' but I didn't think this was safe to use!?

What materials do you suggest as it needs to be quite light to hang up and I would like it to show details ;)

Fibre glass directly onto your body is asking for trouble!. Lightly vaseline your body, this acts as a mould release and stops the hairs adhering!. Then a light skin of aginate which picks up the detail and is safe to apply; which should be backed up with plaster of paris bandages to give it rigidity!.

This produces your mould from which you can make your cast!. This can be done using a whole variety of different resins!.

For materials visit Alec Tiranti
For resins in bulk and metal filled visit Trylon!.

Note white moulding latex can be used in place of aginate!.
