Question: Does skeching make you less talented then someone who draws off the top of their head!?
I draw better when I am looking at something to draw(ex: a picture a person) but when I draw off the top of my head the pictures don't come out as well does that make me a less talented artist then someone who is able to draw from the top of their head!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Absolutely not!. The ability to draw (well) with no sort of reference is something that comes from loads of practice!. And even then, I think everyone draws better (or at least more accurately) when looking at some sort of reference!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not at all!. Someone who sketches often comes up with something more recognizable, and will probably be the better artist in the long run because their skill grows more quickly, depending, but someone who draws off the top of their head may have more creativity, but will probably not learn as fast!.

There are ups and downs to being either type of artist, but in my opinion, someone who draws both is the ultimate winner, because they are more well rounded and know a lot more about everything they need to draw a better picture in general!. They have the accuracy and creativity down pat!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

definitely not!. sketching is a process of putting into paper whats on your mind until you're satisfied with the end product!. i emphasize "process" because a lot of things can happen while sketching!. more often then not you come up with something better than originally planned!. don't be frustrated!. just go with the flow! =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

personally i think it is a talent to be able to draw so well while looking at something like a still life!. i think it is much harder to draw something the way it looks than to draw something out of you head!. drawing is a talent and each person has their strengths and weaknessesWww@QuestionHome@Com
