The most likely culprit is the exposure compensation!.

the AV+/- button on the back that you use to set the Aperture in Manual mode when pressed in any other mode will adjust the overall compensation!.

When you take the shot, watch the exposure meter in the bottom of the viewfinder!. And make sure that the indicator is centered!.

Easy easy mistake to make!.!.!. I did it this past weekend!. Drove me batty for about 30-40 images!Www@QuestionHome@Com

You need to look at your ISO, aperture, and shutter speed!. The correlation between the 3 is what determines your exposure!. Do a little research online and then play around with the settings and you'll figure it out - it seems confusing when you are reading it, but the more you practice the easier it is to understand!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You have to change the aperture and exposure, but then the photos will be a bit blurry!.

It also depends on what setting you have it on!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The only way an xti rebel can get the exposure that wrong is if you have it set on Manual Mode!. Try Aperture priority Av or any of the 'Modes' instead!.
