Question: Why can't I see magenta for what it truely is!?
When I look at magenta, either on the computer, or in the real world my eyes see red, magenta, and blue in that arrangement, the same as the RGB color model!. What is occuring that I see three colors, when in reality it is only magenta that is there!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's interesting!. I'm color blind!. With humans, we are born with a set number of rods and cones in our retinas!. Color blind people are born without enough cones, so we can't see many colors for what they really are!.

The majority of people are "trichromatic" meaning they have 3 types of cone cells to distinguish colors!. A very small percentage though may be "tetrachromatic" meaning they have an extra type of cone to see colors more fully!. The optical nerve might not know what to do with this extra input and simply separate what you see as magenta into 3 separate colors!.

This is just my hypothesis, and I'm by no means a professional at this, but check out the link below for an interesting read!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, I haven't taken my color theory class yet, but the first thought that popped into my head is that you may be seeing magenta for what it truly is!. I wasn't suprised to hear that you saw three colors!. Magenta is not a primary color, so I suppose you are seeing all the colors that make up magenta!. That is something I am getting used to as an artist, which is seeing colors where most people do not!. Such as seeing yellow in a blue sky, or seeing blue in a green tree!. You are lucky to have such an eye for color, and if you plan on becoming and artist, this skill will definitely serve you well!.
Great question!? Hope my answer was helpful!. (although it was a guess)Www@QuestionHome@Com
