Question: How do I get my art teacher to understand my art!?
In my art class we had to pick song lyrics, use calligraphy to write them on a poster, and then draw an illustration with chalk and chalk pencils!. For my poster I used lyrics by The Postal Service, Such Great Heights!. "I am thinking its a sign that the freckles in our eyes are mirror images and when we kiss they're perfectly alligned!." So I drew a man looking into a window with his hands on it!. Instead of his reflection, he sees a girl!. I had a cool idea to make the girl with no face, because he can't get to her and there is a barrier between them!. I told the teacher I thought it'd be cool if I drew her with no face and he said sarcastically, "WHY!? so its easier!?" and i said "no i think its a cool idea" nd he just said "no i dont think so!." well its my art and i decided to do it my way but i dont get why he can't be open to something abstract!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do it! And if you get a bad grade, ask why, and you can even take it to the principle/dean of students! Seriously; follow your dreams, and don't worry what some stupid art teacher thinks!Www@QuestionHome@Com
Don't even try!. Liking certain types of art is purely opinion!.
In fact, when it comes to art teachers, you should always be defiant if you disagree with them on concept (but not on technical skill)!.!.!. *especially* abstract concepts!. Unless he/she has a really good counter-argument to your idea, don't even worry!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
You might refer him to Rene Magritte's painting of The Lovers!. Magritte depicted the lovers with cloths over their faces and it heightens the feeling of alienation!.
As long as your project is effective the issue of face or no face is a non-issue!. Ask the guy if technique is more important to him than concept!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Yeah, welcome to the world of bad art teachers!. Some artists are just too into their own art and cast off other peoples perceptions, its not right what he said but its how it is!. Sorry that you got stuck with one of the sucky ones!. I don't think you can really change his mind, just stand your ground and do it the way you want!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
How about drawing the girl with a some-what transparent veil!? To where you get a hint of the facial features, or just her eyes showing!?

art teachers are just failed artists!. don't listen to your dumbass teacher, i think it seems like a cool idea!. from now on!.!.!.only paint abstractly, and when asked, "what does this mean!?" say that it is an expression for how much you hate his art class!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Art is something that you want to make it!.!.!.Some art teachers go back and "fix" students artwork, don't let that happen!. Remember, art is what you want it to be, use it the way you want!.!.!.(just as long as you don't hurt yourself or others)Www@QuestionHome@Com
