Question: Sigma lens repair!?
One of my DSLRs came with a Sigma lens!. The lens has a plastic mount that is crumbling away and the zoom won't open to full wide angle!. Is it worth a repair and where is the best place to send it!?

PS - never buy Sigma lensesWww@QuestionHome@Com

I doubt its worth repairing!. Use it as a paperweight and begin shopping for a new lens - preferably one made by the manufacturer of your camera!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

One of the biggest draws for a Sigma lens is the price when you first buy it!. All quality issues aside, the base price for Sigmas are usually 1/3rd the price for the equivalent name brand!. That being said they are kind of throw away lenses!. Especially if its old!. Depending on the lens' specifics as to wether its a decent range/aperture it may be cheaper to just buy a new lens!. They come with 4 year warranties (at least mine did)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

this one really puzzles me!?!?

plastic lens mount lenses are cheap and low quality no mattrer what label is on them!. I have a 17-35 F2!.8-4 EX sigma that is brilliant, the key to sigma lenses is the ones with the metal mount and the gold band and "EX" writen on them are top optics!. - modern "pro" lenses are just "X" i think!?

as to the cheap one you have its not worth repair unless the optics are good - are they, I doubt they are!.!.!.

The answer depends on how much it cost in the first place, how long you've had it, if it's still under warranty, which country you are in and if you really want to keep it, from your PS I'm guessing the answer you really want is an excuse to replace it with something else!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i don't have any sigma lenses and y'know i was looking at some just the other day when i bought my new tripod and head (total $l30!.00) (ouch) (but it is sturdy) and now it looks like i won't own any of them, either!.!.!.well now i just read antonikis answer!.!.!.there is your answer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I love my Sigma lenses, particularly my f/1!.4 15mm!. I have no idea which lens you have, is it covered under warranty!? Call the manufacturer and get an estimate for repair!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The only way to know is to take it to a repair shop and get an estimate!.

Look in the phone directory to find one!.

PS -- I use Sigma lenses and they are fine!.

This is one I found with a quick search

It must be an old Sigma, they all have metal mounts nowadays!.

It might be cheaper to replace rather than repair!.
