well it depends, i realized that when i draw i now have a hard time because i didnt learn realism at first, i started with cartoons and i didnt help me much, because in school those kind of things are not normally what is required in a drawind, a awesome book for realism is "how to draw what you see" by Rudy De Reyna, http://www!.amazon!.com/How-Draw-What-Prac!.!.!.

but if cartoon is more of what you want to try, then look it up on the internet, "how to draw cartoons" or "beginer artist tips and tricks" i started in like 3rd grade, now in 7th i enjoy art and its one of the better skills i learned!.!.
