You are trained to do these things or schooled and you only know what you are trained to do!. Just like a pychologist gets her phd in pyschology but she isn't naturally good at mediation or counseling, but she is trained through school to know what to look for, how to get people to open up to her , ect!. but as far as being able to do this without the training well she just in naturally knowledgable or talented enough!. Simply put "You can be as good as a natural only just with alot more effort" I hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com painting to some people comes naturally but others have to work at it!. you might be the latter but you can always improve, just remember if you are trying to paint a subject don't think this is an apple think here is where the light hits it and this is what color I see, and the shape is like this!. this is the best way to artistically recreate an object!. good luck and have fun!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com everything takes time and with that you will get better ,I have started oil painting and am not that good!. But I am still trying to do my best!. Every person whom started painting in the world and has there painting on walls in homes and other great places, started off just like you and I!. If you paint often sooner or later you'll being to develop your own techniques and what works for you!. Just remember painting is a way of expression, there is not right or wrong way to do it just as long as you put your heart and soul into it!.
