Question: Canon or Nikon!.!.!. or something else!?
Canon users will say Canon, Nikon users will say Nikon, others will say others!.!.!. but why!? Is it just because they own and use that camera!? Have they ever used other cameras!?

I am a Canon person!. I discovered the Canon Rebel XTi a few years ago and fell in love with it!. I've bought several lenses for that camera, so someday when I upgrade I will stick with Canon!.!.!. but that's just me!.

What about you!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

What kind of photography do you plan on getting into!? That may help determine whether you should invest in a medium format camera or not!. A wedding photographer doesn't need a medium format camera, but a commercial photographer may!.

I love Canon too, and don't plan on switching brands since I have a lot of Canon equipment already!.

I suggest Canon to newbies because I've had great experience with Canon!.!.!. but the person behind the camera is a lot more important than the camera itself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This "debate" can go on forever!.

I knew someone who had to get a Leica M6 (it was new at the time) because he heard it was well made and he spent more money on a Noctilux (50 mm f 1!.0)!. It looks like this one: http://www!.flickr!.com/photos/22701595@N0!.!.!.

Well made it was and is, but he tried to shoot portrait of his friends and couldn't understand why he was unable to get hardly anything in focus at f 1!. Duh!. He didn't know a thing about depth of field and refused to learn!. Now it's sitting pretty on the shelve!.

I am a Canon person now, but was Nikon for years!. I still have the old Nikon under the bed with all the lenses, too!. A well made camera is capable of producing beautiful photos in the hands of someone who knows how to use it properly and creatively!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As a business plan, converting from one camera system to another makes no sense, but for two situations!.

1) The other camera company offers to exchange all your old equipment for their new !.!.!. camera for camera, lens for lens at no cost to you but for some references to you as a "new convert" !.!.!. this happened in the late 80's when Canon dumped their older system and came out with their EOS system!.
2) There is a unique property the other camera system has that will justify the cost of making the change (or you only have one camera and less than two or three lenses, or under $10,000 invested in the full system)!.

I have seen some of the sports shooters showing up with the new Nikon D3 rather than their old dusty trusted Canons!. I have not had very long conversations with them, but lower image noise, dual CF cards, high frame rate, virtual horizon and the ability of the D3 to accept DX lenses and automatically reduce the active size of the sensor (which allows the frame rate to jump from 9fps to 11fps) comments seem to lead their discussions!.

My guess that the $3,000 difference in price between the D3 and Canon 1Ds Mark III when you are updating two or three camera bodies at a time can be significant too!.

Buying a medium format camera is not really changing systems !.!.!. it is adding to your existing compliment of tools!. I see no reason to do away with your existing DSLR's (unless for financial reasons) to buy and use medium format digital Mamiya's or Hasselblad's!.

The thing is, the kind of photography that uses medium format cameras is very different than the photography shot with 35mm or DSLR's using the same lenses!. Have you even seen a sports photographer shooting with a Hasselbald and a 500mm - f/8 lens (a little over a 300mm if using a 35mm camera)!? No, but you do see Hasselblad's and Mamiya's used in studio, fashion, portrait and advertising photography!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hey there! I'm an amateur-going-professional and I was debating over what SLR to buy at the end of last year!. I spoke to several sources and got varying answers, but when I actually spoke to someone who knew BOTH brands of camera, they told me that they recommend Nikon because you can get the same performance, but you will spend less on the camera and all of the accessories!. Nikon is "in general" not as pricey as Canon from what I have seen!.

I bought the Nikon D80 to start with and I LOVE it!. I hope this helps and best of luck to you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I like Nikon this is why

1!.) Better quality LCD's IMO
2!.) Better Built Bodies IMO (LIKE A BRICK SH*T HOUSE)
3!.) Nikon/Nikor Lenses IMO are superior then other brands such as Canon and there are more of them
4!.) Less expensive then Canon or other brands
5!.) Auto ISO is a big deal and more ways to customize your
DSLR!.
6!.) Canon's are heavier then Nikon's IMO
7!.) The first camera I shot with was a Nikon I now have three
8!.) Go hold a Canon then go hold a Nikon you will then be turned to the dark side
9!.) My N90s has been beaten so bad that I think it works better then it did new!.
10!.) Nikon has great Customer service and a very very informative websight!.

Unless Leica comes out with an R10 DSLR fully loaded 20fps and full frame I am going to shoot Nikon!. The R10 will probably be about 15grand lol!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Medium format image quality will blow DSLRs away!.

You can pick up a Hasselblad 500 C/M, standard lens and back for the price of a consumer digital body!.

If you're thinking about going MF, do it now and start making great images!.
