Displaying images on the computer can be done in many ways!. You are probably familiar with pixels!. Pixels are based off of a grid system!. For instance, an image can be 100X100 pixels, where each point on the grid is filled with a color!. that is why when you zoom or blow up an image comprised of pixels it looks like small squares, or "pixelated"!. Digital Photos are comprised of pixels!.

VECTORS, on the other hand, or Vector based graphics, do not use pixels!. Lines are defined Mathematically, as to be infinitely resizable!. If you had a vector based image of a circle, and you were to zoom in on the edge of that circle, you would never start to see the little squares or pixels, of a "pixelated" photo!. The edge will always look like a crisp edge, no matter how small or large it is!. Programs such as Illustrator or Corel Draw, create vector based lines exclusively, instead of putting pixels in a grid!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
