I doubt it, although the previous poster has me wondering!. Maybe it *is* illegal in some states!. I'd check with the local police if I were you!.

If you do spray-paint your toy gun black, be *very* discreet about showing it in public!. In fact, if you live in a city or suburban neighborhood, I wouldn't recommend that you even take it outside of the house, particularly if your backyard has no tall fences to obscure the view of neighbors!. You and your family/friends may know it is just a toy gun, but other people won't!. And chances are they will want to err on the side of caution!. That could mean, at the least, a totally unnecessary 911 call!. Or worse!.

If your cap gun has a orange thingy on the end of the muzzle, at least cover that orange thingy with tape before spray-painting!. Most people will be able to recognize it as a toy gun when they see that orange thingy, and there will be less misunderstanding about it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Might not be illegal, but depending on what you do with it or were you carry it, it's a good way to get shot!. Most modern toy guns have a bright orange dot somewhere on the side where police can see it!. Painting that could be harmful to your health!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
