Question: Will they really make us kiss!?
For my middle school musical, we're doing the Sound of Music!. I got the part of Liesl!. I'm thrilled and all, but I was just wondering if you think they will make me and Tom!.!.!.er!.!.!.!.Rolf, actually kiss!. I don't have a problem with it and I don't think he does either, but last year they did Godspell, and Tom got the part of Jesus and they didn't make him and Judas kiss!. I know that that is totally different (one's straight and one would have been gay-well sorta, I mean if you know what the story is, it isn't gay, but still) but what is your opinion!? Btw: both me and tom are in 8th grade!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A kiss while acting isn't the same as a real kiss at all- there are no emotions or romantic attachments involved!. Like the answer above me, actors act and you should both realize that this is a stage kiss and nothing more!. Refusing to kiss would be immature and would severely hurt your chances of being cast by this director again!. And wasn't there a box to check on the form when you auditioned saying whether or not you were willing to kiss onstage!?
That being said, many times (and especially in middle school productions) they will have you stage kiss!. It's like how in stage combat the people aren't 'really' slapping each other- you won't be 'really' kissing the person (at least, not on the lips)!. If your director doesn't decide to do this, suggest it!. And if they refuse, then take a deep breath, get in character, and suck it up!.
