Question: Do you need to go to college to pursue a Acting Career!.!.!?

I have recently got an Actors Agency, but do you think that you have to go to college to get into the acting business!.!.!? I am already studying performing arts at college, but i was just wondering do you have to go to college!.!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Honestly, you do not have to major in Acting to purse a career in Acting, but it really does help give you experience!. I am a professional stage actress, and trained in theatre at a college conservatory, and have worked with some very excellent actors that have not majored in theater!. But I have found, the more training you have, that you can really only receive in college, puts you a 'step up' on your competition!. If your goal is to act more on film, you don't necessarily have to go to college for that, but find courses that offer you experience in front of a camera-it's a completely different experience, and different kind of acting style altogether than stage!. You also can't always rely on an agency to get you all of your work, unless you are living in NYC or LA, those locations you really need the agencies!. But my best recommendation is to simply get out there, and get the most experience and training you can, whether you find it in a college setting or not!. Just keep adding legitimate stage /screen experiences to your resumes- you will land more roles with the more experience you have performing!. also remember, before you can solely rely on Acting as your career, you will likely have to work side jobs to keep an income- but it's worth it, if acting is something you truly love and makes you a happier person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
