Question: To those with experience as an EXTRA or ACTOR!?

Now, I just moved to california and i live in the LA area!. I would like to know where to go, who to speak to about being an extra!? I've looked at all the online extra sites, and they all want money!. I'm not paying any money!. And im not going to go to acting school!!

Audition, audition, audition!. You can't go 'speak to someone about being an extra' per-say!. You're right to not go to online sites that want money!. But you do need to find listings, whether online or in the newspaper about auditions listings for extras!. also, submit your headshot and resume to as many agencies as possible!.!.!.or audition for as many agencies as possible, as agencies can also help you get work as an extra!. Realize sometimes, as an extra, you won't be paid much, your only payment may be meals while on set, or it may take months to get your payment, depending on the film!. Being an extra is lot of fun, but be ready to sit and wait for many hours, or sometimes be called, and never used in a scene!. But it's great experience to add to your resume!. You can also try searching backstage!.com west coast ( CA) for casting, but for free, you will only get limited answers as to audition locations, etc!. Just keep trying if this is something you really want to pursue!Www@QuestionHome@Com
