Question: Serious theatre warm up activities for 13-17 yr olds!?
The title speaks for itself!. I need theatre activities for 13-17 yrs olds - not so much in the realm of fun improv games; I need to get them in the right mindset for rehearsals!. They socialize before rehearsal starts so they're pretty high energy, i need some activities that help them focus seriously!. Any ideas!? book suggestions!? thanks in advance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We played these games at my theatre before rehearsal and before the shows:

The Numbers Game: everyone stands in a circle facing in!.!.!. There is no special order people go in, but the goal is to count to 25!.!.!. The trick is that only one person at a time can speak, and say a number, of you have to start back at one!. No one can go twice in a row (so the same person couldn't say one and two!.!.!.)!.!.!.!.!.

Another game is called Zoom: People stand in a circle holding hands!. The starter looks to their left or right, and says ZOOM as they squeeze that person's hand!. Then the person who's hand was squeezed looks in the same direction and says ZOOM!. The object is to go around as fast as possible :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

We used to play this game where we all started in various places around the stage!. We weren't allowed to speak at all!. The goal was to get into as tight a group as possible!. One person would clap, point to someone with their closed hands, and take a step toward the middle!. The person they pointed at would then clap, point to someone else, and take a step!. It was very simple, but it put the cast in a serious mind!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

mirror- one person mirrors the other!.
Conflict- give them a conflict in between each other in which they must find a resolution!.
Let them go around and talk as there characters to each other
have them present info on their character

Try vocal warm-ups (ie tounge twisters), also use thier hyperness as a way to let go of thier jitters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
