Question: For a 16 interested in acting/modelling, how do you go about this!?
I got some photo's taken, and I was interested in model about last year!. I'm currently on a website for acting/modeling agents to browse through!. But I'm pretty sure the whole thing was a bad idea!. I got a call for a background person in a movie coming out in the spring, and I got a call from an agency who wanted to book me, but it would have to mean that I would have to pay about $6000 more dollars for new clothes, photoshoots for new headshots ect, and other things like that!. =/ My parents weren't too fond of that so we had to turn it down!. I'm currently more interested in acting as well as modeling, and was wondering if anyone knew any good ways to go about this!. So far I've only found one decent website; does it look legit to you!? Know any other ones!?

Thanks for the help!Www@QuestionHome@Com

No legitimate agency will ever make you pay upfront to become a model!. The agency is supposed to pay for your portfolio, hire a stylist to dress you, etc!. That's not something you ever pay for out of pocket!. An agency makes money by booking you on jobs and getting a commission!. It's a good thing you didn't fall for that scam

Unfortunately so many model websites attract a lot of scammers so be careful

You would be better off sending in pictures directly to these agencies http://models!.com/agencies/top/ and see what they think!. If they are really interested, they will call you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Go for your parents not paying that much money!. A good company wont ask you to pay anything!. If i were you i would send your pic and resume to agents and managers around you!. PLease if you have any question just email me i know what your going threw!. Just don't give up!.

go to a model agency and talk to them directly!. my friend did it and didn't have to pay a whole lot since she is an eye model!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

scam !!! look in the yellow pages or a city near you for a (one) agent !.!.!. not an agency

an agent finds you jobs to make money !.!.!. not strip you of itWww@QuestionHome@Com

Start off by taking some acting classes at an acting school!. Usually at the end of a certain amount of classes they have a "showcase"!. This is where invited agents come and you audition for them!. If they like you then they call you and you go meet with them!. Agents don't cost anything and if they do it is a scam!. Another way to get an agent is to send out your headshot with an attached resume to agencies!. Before sending anything out though make sure the agency is completely legit!. Hope this helped and good luck!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's always really difficult to tell if something is a scam or not!. One big warning sign is if they ask for any money up front (But that does not include head shot costs, makeover costs, etc!. but those would be paid to a photographer or a salon, not the agency)!. But if they say something like, give us $5000 and we'll make you a model, walk away!. Since you like acting, take some vocal lessons (some acting colleges even require previous singing experience, so even if you don't want to sing, it's a good idea) and get involved in some community or school theater!. I'd set up meetings with more than one agency to decide what's best for you and what agency will be able to work with your needs the best!. And before you sign with an agency or give them any money, have a meeting with them and maybe check their ratings at the Better Business Bureau!. This agency looks pretty legit, but again, websites can be deceiving, so check everything out!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
