Question: Macbeth Interpretation Question!?
what does it mean when Macbeth says "The worm fled Hath nature that in time will venom breed, No teeth for the present"Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
"The worm fled" is Banquo's son, who has just run away from Macbeth's planned ambush!.

He "has nature that in time will venom breed," in other words, he'll be dangerous someday - Macbeth has to make sure that Banquo's entire lineage is destroyed!.

"No teeth for the present" - means he's not a danger right now!. He can't continue the lineage until he's old enough to procreate (or possibly avenge his father's murder!. Neither one of those things is going to happen immediately!.

Worm also means snake, which is a term of scorn - hence the teeth!. But "worm" is even lower than snake, isn't it!? hence the no teeth!.
