Overall, I believe that the play concludes that both fate and an individuals decisions play a part in what will eventually happen!.

This can be seen when Macbeth goes to the witches to learn his fate!. Their prophesy to him is two sided!. The witches tell him to be leery of Macduff as if Macduff may hurt him, but, they also tell him that no man born from the womb of a woman will hurt him!. Their whole prophesy is contradictory!. If no man may hurt Macbeth then why should he fear Macduff!? Macbeth can see that both sides of the prophesy contradict one another, so in the end he decides to go ahead and kill Macduff!.

By deciding to kill Macduff, Macbeth is making sure that he will never hurt him!. It's almost as if Macbeth is only listening to the part of the prophesy that warns him not to trust Macduff!. Instead of fully trusting the part of the prophesy that no man born from a womens womb will ever hurt him, Macbeth decides to make absolutely sure that Macduff will never harm him through Macduff dieing!.

This action can be seen as an individual taking control and deciding his own actions even when they conflict with what his decided fate is!.

Did Macbeth really need to kill Macduff!? His fate had already decided that no "regular" born man would ever hurt him!. Maybe the other side of the prophesy was just saying to keep a close eye on Macduff, maybe Macduff would of only caused Macbeth minor problems in the future and not the ones that would of endangered his life!. But also the prophesy failed to fully diverge that Macduff was born from a cesarean section and not from a womens womb!.

Overall, Macbeth decided a course of action that could be viewed as unnecessary since his fate was that he could never be hurt by a regular born man!. It's only later that he finds out that Macduff had an abnormal birth!. But, you could also view Macbeth as holding fate to its promises!. He decided to listen to fate and try to kill Macduff and he is also expecting fate to hold up the other part of his fate!.

I believe that the play shows that both fate and man control an individuals actions!. The play shows that fate can tell an individual what will happen but also it is up to the individual to believe it or act based on his prophesied fate!. Macbeth decided to act and it was wholly his decision to do so!.

But you could also argue that the prophesy set up Macbeth to act based on the contradictory nature of his fate and also how the prophesy failed to fully diverge that Macduff was not born normally!. Would Macbeth still decide to fight Macduff had he known about his birth!?

Many different arguments and opinions can come up when you discuss Macbeth and fate!. Since it is a two page paper it may be good for you to discuss both sides of the issue!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well you see, the great thing about Shakespear Dramas like Hamlet and Macbeth is that it leaves a lot of room for inturpertaion!.So if you think about it you could say that McDuff killed Macbeth by fate or Macbeth was just asking for it!.Hope you do good!Www@QuestionHome@Com
