With your kind of dance training, I would think you should try out as a dancer, but if your heart is telling you jasmin, then go for it!

When I was in grade six, we did Aladdin Jr!. I was Iago, and it was my first role ever!. It was my first theatre experience and people loved me (even though I now watch the tape and see how bad I was)!.

The point of middle school shows is too get used to the rehearsal process and try it out, so if you want, go for it, and if you don't like it, at least you know that you've tried!.

Confidence is on the inside!. If you really are confident, the casting director will see that right away, even if you are nervous at the audition!. I would suggest your song for your audition should be Jasmin's reprise of "one jump ahead"!. "riff raff, street rat, I don't, buy that!.!.!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

Definitely try out! Being a part of plays was always a rush for me and I really liked it and actually get to know people you might usually not know!. I think you should just go into the audition and just try to get a part that will allow you to show your dancing and once you have more experience (maybe even not year) try for a lead role!. This year just get the experience learn about the audition process, make an impression on the directors and have fun!. Do it, more than likely you won't regret you did!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Give it a tryWww@QuestionHome@Com

take a chance!. We learn best from our failures!. What have you got to lose!? (except maybe that fear!)Www@QuestionHome@Com

for starters, props for wanting to do this! trying new things is awesome!

now for dancing, experience in that is aweosme! musicals can always use great dancers!. i tried out for two different productions at two different programs i had never done before and not only did i get in but i got dancing roles because ihad more experience than others!. dancing always looks great!

as far as singing goes, that's okay! dancing is one thing that you just might have over everyone, and not everyone is perfect!. so you have that!.!. practice with youtube or itunes recordings the song you are going to sing, and the more you practice the better you'll do!. try to decipher the emotion ofthe song, use expression in your singing and your face!. that will get some acting into the song!. also, memorize the song for the most part, even if it is not required it looks i mpressive that you put the work in - shows your a committed performer for the play!.!.!. also, do you have a friend who plays piano or can help you with the notes!? that is what you will want to work on!.!. also enunciate so people can understand what you're thinking!. maybe you don't have a solo voice just yet, but the chorus is just as important, for there is no show without one!.

also, practice, practice, practice!. yes, i know you hear this all the time, but there's nothing better to do!. the more you practice the more comfortable you will be with this!. now yes nerves are good to keep you on your toes, but too many nerves might not always be great!. don't think people will laugh at you, and if they ever do which i doubt they will, just think to yourself, you had the guts to go up there, basically allow people to judge you, on personal talent!.!. that takes courage girl, and just experience auditioning and whatnot is helpful in poise, public, and theatre!

stage fright is an obstacle for many, especially starters like you!.!. try practicing in front of friends or family to shed some nerves!. also, jasmine is quite a large part, so it's great to hope, but don't get hopes up too much, that's amazing if you do get it, but being your first play, your chances are not as lucky as others trying out!.

and remember, rejection is a part of life!.!. if it doesn't work out how you want, just be able to say that you put all your hard work into it, so you couldn't have done any better!.!. and don't give up! the comeback kid is always the most impressive, so try out next time too! the greats all get rejected sometimes, so be prepared, but nonetheless good luck! also, just think you'll just keep working your way up, and aim higher next time no matter what the result!

good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Heck yes you should try out!! i made the same mistake!. I wanted to take drama freshman year!.!. but i was too scared because i thought people would laugh at me!. Im a senior!.!. I finally got the courage to take it and its fun! I haven't tried out for a play, and i regret not doing so!.
If you dont feel comfortable trying out for a part that sings a lot!.!.or at all, try out for a character that doesn't sing!. You have plenty of time to get the courage to get that singing part!. Like i said on another post!.!.!. your an actor!.!.!.!.right, even though you might not be really confident about it, act confident!. Go in there and audition like you have no problem!. Yes it sounds easier then actually doing it, but try it, it might help!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
