Question: Blocking when the other character has long lines!?
Well I have a drama assessment on Monday, and I am acting in a duo scene!. The other actor has really long lines, where as I only have short ones!. I don’t know how to move on stage, what actions is should do (blocking)!. I cant just stand around, I need to be moving, but I don’t know how!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The more your partner will move, then the more you will move!. Remember, its not just moving, its interaction!.

So maybe you can accomodate to any movement your partner makes (or ask him to make more)!. For example if he's screaming at you, tell him to get up and close to your face!. That way you can slowly back off!.

But dont make any drastic movements or else, like another answer had said, it will be extremely distracting and draw attention away from the speech at hand!.

Good luck! I got a drama assignment too :PWww@QuestionHome@Com

the important thing is to remain entirely present and aware in that moment, even if you aren't speaking!. Really absorb yourself in the environment of the scene, then you will be that much more ready when it is your turn to speak!. As far as moving, that isn't the most vital thing, LISTEN, and be present!.!.!.two most important things in acting!.!.!.:) If you do want to move, do it because you feel compelled to, not because you feel like you have to!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Along with the previous answers, I might suggest a secondary activity!.
A secondary activity is something you're doing that is unrelated to the action of the scene!. Folding laundry is a great one!. Dusting!. Shelling peas!. knitting!. It really doesn't matter what the activity is (hence the name 'secondary'), of course, it must be an activity that your character would engage in!. Then you can make choices about your reactions; i!.e!. when your attention is diverted by the other character and when you try to resume the activity, etc!.
Hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com
