Question: I need a Dramatic monologue!?
I am 18, I am auditioning for a BFA at couple different colleges in January and February, and I am searching like crazy for good monologues!. I like monologues from plays few people have heard of, so please feel free to send whatever you can!. I am pretty set on a comedic monologue from a play called Jack and Jill, but I have gone through over 30 plays and havent found a good dramatic monologue, or at least one I like!. Please help me out :) Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sam Shepherd is full of monologues, albeit many of them a bit surreal!.

Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" has multiple monologues for someone 18 years old, and there is a nice one for Viola in "Twelfth Night" (the "I am the Man speech)!. "Hamlet" is supposed to be quite young, but a more obscure Shakespeare monologue for someone young can perhaps better be found in "The Winter's Tale" (Perdita, especially) and "Pericles, Prince of Tyre" (the title character)!.

A couple of modern plays with some really good monologues are "The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window" by Lorraine Hansberry and "In Perpetuity Throughout The Universe" by Eric Overmeyer!. And you could hardly do better than "Cloud Nine" or "Top Girls" by Caryl Churchill!.
