have u read the play!? you find that out by the end of act 1!. He's angry at Othello for not giving him the job of lieutenant, and giving it to inexperienced Cassio instead!. And he heard a rumor that Othello slept with his wife, so he's just gonna act like the rumors true and get revenge!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sorry to sound like a dick here, but come on!.!.!.!.This isn't even subtextual!. Iago explains his motivations in several significant soliloquies before the end of Act 1!.
