If you've only done one play, it's understandable that your mother isn't sure you're ready to commit to an acting career for the rest of your life!. And if you think you were horrible, you should probably get some more acting experience at the school play level to build up your confidence before you move on up!.

In the meantime, while you're doing as much acting as you possibly can at your school, you might want to call around to community theatres and professional theatres in your area to see if they offer youth acting classes!. By taking some lessons and working with other young actors who are also interested in developing their talents, you'll demonstrate commitment and you'll learn something about what it takes to succeed in the acting profession!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you really want to be an actress, the best way to learn the craft is to act: scene work in class, community theatre, school plays!. Do you have any friends who are writers!? Volunteer to get a group together to read the play aloud!. Widen the variety of shows you're in!. Straight plays, musicals, absurd, comedy, drama, shakespeare!. All of these give you experience!. Experience is definitely key!. The more shows you do, the more different types of shows you do, the more experience you'll have!.

Look at your acting after you've done 10 plays!. Or 20!. If you still think you're horrible, then maybe acting isn't for you!.

If you go for performing arts like theatre then join a local community theatre or audition for local college plays (they usually use a wide age range for summer productions) you can definately use any expirience in those fields!. =)

If you want to do onscreen acting its a bit more difficult!. You will have to go to one of the big cities & start taking classes with known instructors!. Auditioning constantly for supporting roles in short films & work your way up from there!.

Hope this helps you out!. =)

Edit: totally agree with classmate on this one!. Just getting expirience is essential!.!.!. do not try to skip that part! =)Www@QuestionHome@Com
