There are few types of producers and a few different roles they may engage in, nothing is really set in stone but they will work as a team!. Generally speaking Executive producers are first and foremost responsible for the securing financing for the production!. They may also but not necessarily be responsible for securing distribution for the film once it is finished!.

Producers are more engaged in the day to day tasks of running a production and one of them may also be responsible for the script that is about to be produced!. Depending on their expertise or where their individual relationships lie they'll be doing anything from securing deals for equipment to talent to locations!.

Line Producers draw up the actual budget and schedule and will report to either the producers or Exec producers!. He will let me know exactly where I am as I'm out there making deals for whatever is needed!.

Co Producers and Associate Producers are titles sometimes given out frivolously but in many cases are actually persons who've actually helped raise money to assistants to the main producers as they learn the business of film production!.

The producers are the people who finance a production!. The executive producer does the actual busywork involved in getting it off the ground (hiring the director, choreographer, etc; this may also involve commissioning a scriptwriter and composer for an original work)!.
