I would recommend singing something Disney-like, since that is the type of show you are auditioning for!. Jasmine is a mezzo-soprano, so your song should show strength in that range!.

Try to dress to give a good impression!. A mini-skirt/tube top is not going to get you cast!. A professional outfit, but not an overly fancy outfit, is what you should wear!. An eye-catching accessory, like a bright headband or scarf can be helpful!. The casting director is not likely to remember your name, but being able to call you the "girl with the pink scarf" can help he/she and the rest of the casting team to identify you, therefore making you more likely to be talked about/cast!.

Your outfit should be easy to move in, or you could bring a change of clothes for the dancing portion of the audition!. (There may not be one however - check the information of the audition!.)

What to expect!? Well, most likely you will walk in and register!. You will then sit and wait until it is your turn to audition!. Walk over to the pianist, hand him/her your sheet music, explaining clearly and politely where your 32-bars/16-bars/etc!. starts and ends!. (ALWAYS be NICE to the pianist!.!.!. they can really screw up your audition if they want to!.) You may be expected to slate - give your name, age, hometown, etc!. as well as the song you are singing!. (They should fill you in on this before the audition!.!. if not, watch/listen to the person who goes before you!.) Make sure to thank when you're done!.!.!. Even if you messed up horribly, keep your head held high!. Don't says, "Oh, sorry - my throat is soar!.!." etc!. It's very unprofessional!.

I think that's the basics!.!. Don't be afraid to ask questions! REMEMBER: the people watching you audition are hoping you are good! They want someone perfect for the role just as badly as you want the role!

I've been through several painful musical theatre auditions, so I think I know how to deal with them now!. Here is my advice:
1!. Relax, everyone will be nervous about their own performance so they won't be paying to much attention to yours!.

2!. Wear a comfortable full skirt or dress!.

3!. Pick a song you are comfortable with, don't try to do something you can't perform well to impress!.

4!. Take a deep breath and be happy no matter what role you get!. Ensemble work can be just as fun as a lead role!

I've just auditioned for Aladdin as well, though ours isn't the Disney version, the princess is named Celestia, and it isn't a musical!.

They'll ask you to sing, of course!. They may have a song prepared for you to sing, something as simple as Happy Birthday, or a number from the show!. They may not even ask for the whole song!. They may cut you short, don't take it personally!. It doesn't mean they weren't impressed!. It just means that they've heard all they need from you to know if they're interested!. If you get to choose a song, it might be best to pick a well known song that isn't as popular!. Listening to the big number from a musical over and over gets old, and the judges can get to the point where they tune it out!. Believe me, I've made that mistake before!.
They may also ask you to dance!. From the auditions I've gone to, they teach a dance, going through it in slow-mo a few times, to a group of people!. They'll then ask you to perform it, taking notes!.
A read-through might take place, where they'll give you a character to read the lines for!. It's very important to read with much emotion and confidence, as that is what they'll be looking for!.
Occasionally, I've had to do some improv!. exercises at an audition!. They'll yell things like animal names for you to act out, or hand you an object and expect you to make up a story about it!. Sometimes charades will be the game of choice for the judges!. Try to make the performance your own, and be original, so you'll stick in their mind when they're going back over who they're going to cast!.

Being nervous for an audition is perfectly normal!. Just remember to be yourself, try your hardest, and don't get too bent out of shape if you don't get a role!. There's always next time!. And if you do get cast, remember, whatever they cast you as is EXACTLY what you wanted!. You won't always get the lead in a show, try not to be disappointed!. If you do, more power to you!.

Good luck!
