Thought you might like to hear from someone who has been at this awhile!. Please don't take any of the following as rude or mean!.

So, what IS this "plan" you mentioned!? Unless you are already phenomenally talented or have received a lot of training to hone your skills, you're simply not ready for an agent!.

You need to just start auditioning for theatre projects in your area, so you can build your resume!. For 99% of us, theatre has been sort of an apprentice system -- you start small and low, and build yourself up!. I started out in unpaid community theatre productions when I was 13 years old, and I'm now in my 40s and have worked in Manhattan and extensively in regional theatres across the U!.S!.

Although an agent technically works FOR the artist, the initial relationship is the agent's choice!. This is because the artist's work equals the agent's income, so they are of course only going to take on those folks that have the potential for paid work!. I don't mean this next part to be mean or discouraging, but you are not going to get an agent unless you have marketable abilities -- your DESIRE to work as an actor is utterly insufficient, so you have to present something tangible (i!.e!. skill and experience)!. This also applies to actual projects -- you simply cannot show up an audition and expect to get cast solely because you WANT to get cast!.

So again, my advice is to start auditioning for shows around your area!. If you're still in school, take a drama class -- if there's no drama program at your school, seek out a local community college, or try to find a private group class!. You need to take classes, do shows, and constantly work to improve your skills -- and if you're still in school, you have to keep your grades up in other areas [that can be a very strong bargaining chip where your parents are concerned -- make it a part of the "plan" you stated that you have]!.

I hope none of this is discouraging, but it's the truth!. It sounds like you have the drive, my dear, and that's half the battle -- but the other half of the battle is called "working your butt off!." In the phrase "Show Business," the operative word is NOT "Show"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My friend who also lives in Colorado sent her resume and picture to managers and agents in LA and the manager that we are both with now wanted to meet with her so she came down here for a while to try it!. She now comes to LA every other month to work and go on auditions!. So I would say to find get the book Working Actor's Guide, and in the back there is a list of managers and agents!. Send your pic and resume to some of them!. and maybe if one contacts you your parents will see how much you wont this!. Just don't forget to ever give up!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
