Question: Auditioning for the lead role of a musical-as a freshmen!?
In about two weeks I'm auditioning for the part of Belle in my high school's musical production of Beauty and the Beast!. I've been prepping for the role for several weeks now, but then somebody asked me if they would allow me to play the role, beings I'm only a freshman in high school!. The auditions announcements say that auditions are open to ALL students, but that doesn't mean that they won't pick somebody who has been in drama classes for a few years!. As well, I'm not even in a drama class this year, I just heard about the auditions, and wanted to try out!. So, what's your opinion!? Is there a chance of me getting the lead role that I want even though I'm only a freshman!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

no!GO FOR IT!! just because someone is older doesn't mean they should get th role!. I think you should absolutely audition!. I was just in the play Gyspy and a freshman got one of the lead roles as Louise/gypsy rose lee!. and my freshman year i was in Beauty and the Beast and Belle was a sophmore!. definitely go for it=]Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your school has stated "open to all students" This may be completely open or it may be for certain parts!.
If you want in the musical, then audition!. If you will only accept the part of Belle, don't audition!.
Not because you won't get it, but because of an attitude that the director does not need to work with!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you would have to be da sh*t!. I'm not kidding!. they usually only want senors and juniors !.!.!. practice !.!.!. and try to get to know the drama teacher a little!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not a good idea!. At our school no freshman girl has ever even gotten the part!. You'd have to be Broadway amazing!. You should shoot more towards the chorus because competition is fierce!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

there's no harm in auditioning!. there's a good chance your director might be looking for a girl he knows and has worked with!. ( ie senior or junior)
that doesn't mean don't try though!. this show has tons of great parts, and if you don't get belle, your director will still have heard you audition, and maybe put you in another great role!. (plus he'll get to know you better the more you preform with him, ie!.auditioning for a bigger part means he thinks about you more during casting, therefore, he'll remember you better than he would if you auditioned for chorus only)

so, go for it, if you don't get belle, dont be heart broken, like you said, you're only a freshman, thats means theres many more shows in your future!.
