A lot of great answers on this question!. =)

You will definitely be judged but, if it's any consolation, they're not going to SAY anything TO you!. A director isn't going to be, like, "Oh, your eyes are too close together," or "You need to lose some weight," or "You have a weird look," or anything like that!. They will usually just smile at you and tell you thank you for auditioning and that will be the end of it!. You'll go on your merry way and either hear you've gotten a part or (sometimes) hear that you haven't!.

You are judged every day in every situation!. Sometimes positively, sometimes negatively!. It's just life!. Don't be too afraid of how you're being judged, because everybody judges differently and for different reasons!.

For acting, just do the best you can and practice for each and every audition!. Then, if you get the part, fantastic! And if you don't, be consoled by the fact that thousands of other actors aren't getting a part that day, too!. We move on!. There's always another project!

Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

They will judge you because of your appearance, and they will judge you because of your talent!. That's what you're doing when you audition - asking them to judge whether or not you have the looks and talent for the part you're casting!. On the bright side, there are lots of roles that don't have specific requirements, looks-wise!. Most people look average, so directors aren't afraid of casting average-looking actors!. If you have a second head or something I don't know what to tell you, but otherwise, love yourself and get all the training you can, and you'll be fine!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Absolutely they will be judgmental because of your appearance!. Count on it, the way you count on the sun coming up in the morning!. The thing is, that this doesn't have to be a bad thing!.!.!.your appearance will be judged appropriate for some roles, inappropriate for others!. also, your appearance may keep you from a role, not because it isn't what the director would like to have, but because it just doesn't work!. Example: if you're 5'8" tall, but the tallest guy to audition is 5'6", the director may like your look, but acknowledge that you and the guy look ridiculous together!. So, he might go with his #2 choice, just to keep all the perspectives right!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

This question makes no sense!. If you want to be an actress then set about on the path that will take you there!. If you are afraid of being judged and fear rejection then do not pursue this career!. The fact of the matter is EVERY actor is judged on anything from appearance to performance and a whole range of other factors that are most likely to be outside of that actors control!.

An actor in general goes through a great deal of rejection!. There are too many actors for too few roles!. You would do well not to take it personally!. You just move on to the next opportunity!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What does that mean!? Of COURSE directors are judgmental! The whole casting process is based on judging who is better for a role, and appearance does play a large part in that!. For example, race is a very important factor in the musical South Pacific!. If Nellie wasn't white, then it would change the whole show!.
And appearance can be an effective way of portraying a character!. Acting is all about rejection!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think you can assume that is accurate, BUT there are compassionate directors out there!.

The issue is finding the right person for the part and your appearance while not being judged as to who you are, might not fit that part!.

Obvious things such as the call asking for a tall blonde, might disallow a short Brunette!.

Your job, or quest should be in looking for parts that not only suit you, but that cause you to be in the pool of possibles for any part!.

First of all, I don't know what you look like, but even if you looked bad confidence is key!. If you don't have confidence in yourself, it WILL show, and that is one thing an actor/actress MUST have!.

Uhm, also, acting is one career where, unfortunately, looks have a big part on how you will be cast/get work!. Certain characters have certain traits that can't be altered or an audience will be confused (I!.E!. Glinda in Wicked (because it is wellknown) would not be a really old person, or a rather large person!.)

Definitely not implying anything considering i don't even know how you look, and in the same light, there are parts for people of all types!. It is just finding the right part!.

AND you need to be willing to change things about yourself, such as cutting or dying hair, (although wigs are great too ;-])

Anyways, it IS a director's perogative to choose people for the part regardless of what they are looking at!. Hopefully they would be looking at talent, but like I said, it is up to them

Good luck, and don't worry about it!. just have confidence [:Www@QuestionHome@Com

The director has his vision of the character!. Nothing you can do or say will change his mind if it does not match his vision!. You will never know;
Just show up and you may get lucky!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

sadly, acting is all about rejection!.
don't let the fear of rejection stop you, or you won't get anywhere!.
go for it & good luck :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
