Question: What are the true reasons why people choose to become actors!?
I am at a point in my life, where college is always knocking at the door and I am continually being thrust into the idea of choosing a profession, but I do not know if I want to pursue an acting career for the right reasons!. I will tell you about the thought process that I go through, and if you can, would you please give me some comments and/or suggestions to help me!? I am a senior in high school, a Caucasian male, who plays sports at varsity level!. I feel that acting is more of a passion than an art and whenever I can show off my skills to anyone, I will do so (even if they aren't aware that I am putting on a show!.) I love attention when I am in control of it and acting in front of a camera is something I could do for a lifetime!. I love to do things just to see how others react and I push people to their emotional boundaries all the time!. I want to be a film actor, but at this age it seems like theater is a must, but is there anyway around it!? I enjoy theater, but it comes no where close to how much I love film!. I feel like acting is something I do all the time and must do for the rest of my life to be happy, but I am not sure if I am at a point in my life where I can make a mature decision like this!. well i want to be an actress!.!.!.!.but the stage is where i live!.!.!.i mean im still in high school im a junior but i know this was meant for me!.!.!.!.im in most of the schools productions!.!.!.!.i have theatre classes!.!.!.!.and that's where i spend most of my time!.!.!.i basically live there i go right when i get to school and i leave at night and i have to walk home ant night!.!.!.!.and i live in Las vegas, weirdos around here!.!.!.!.but its like i belong no where else!.!.!.i even ditch classes to go to theatre!.!.!.i mean most ppl ditch to go to eat or go 2 a party!.!.!.!.but me !.!.!.!.i didn't get into my theatre 3 class 4 some reason!.!.!.!.and the stupid counselor said algebra 2 was more important!.!.!.she doesn't know anything!.!.!.lol but basically im comfortable on stage and that's where want to be !.!.!.!.!.!.8-D
I HOPE U UNDERSTAND WHERE IM COMING FROM AND THIS HELPS A LITTLE!.!.!.!.!.BUT IT DEPENDS IF U WNTED TO BE ON A STAGE OR ON SCREEN!.!.!.!.!.but the stage is more fun!.!.!.on screen isnt real acting!.!.!.they put lemon juice in ur eye to make u cry on screen!.!.!.i wouldnt need that!.!.!.i hve skills!.!.!.!.but i dont think that is the kind of actress i want to be!.!.!.its fake

my advice would be!.!.!.try out 4 an agent!.!.!.!.but thats something you'd have to pay 4!.!.!.!.!.!.or if you set up auditions for all kinds of different tv "companies"!.!.!.!.!.abc nbc lifetime disney!.!.!.!.those!.!.!.!.youll come through some way

The reasons are as varied as there are humans on the planet!.
Understand one thing about the acting profession however!. It is a brutal, brutal industry!. The acting itself can be wonderful but the business of getting those acting jobs crushes many a soul!. It is a grinding machine and for every successful star you see there are thousands of failures you will never know about!. 98% of the Screen Actors Guild union membership earns less than $5,000 per calender year as an actor!. Hence the day/night jobs to survive!. This is the reality!.
So, if there is some other profession in life you can love and earn a living at, go do it!. The acting industry has too many actors for too few opportunities!. But if you can absolutely not breath without being on a stage or in front of a camera bringing a character forth and can weather the soul crushing rejection of the business to see those moments, then by all means, go for it!. Finish college though!. Better yet, try to attend NYU or USC!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
