Question: High school play audition ideas!?
I'm looking to try out for the role of the Cat in "Honk Jr!." and I need a monologue to try out with which would have a sneaky, deceptive, kinda-evil, character [preferably from another children's show]

thanks in advance!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Find a role that can catch the casting persons eyes!. Something other people won't expect from auditions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In general, be aware of what you are auditioning for, but don't find something where you are practically being that character you are trying out for!. Directors don't want a cut character anyway, they want somebody who is flexible, experienced, professional, and versatile that they can play with and work with!.

Just find a monologue that represents you, that you relate the best to!. Not only does this help you do a better job with it, as it is less of a stretch, but directors love to see a piece of who you are as a person as well!. They are casting an actor, a cast member, not a character!. So go for teenage monologues!. Some great ones (but quite mature) ones can always come out of the original play version of Spring Awakening (not the musical, but the German play), but make sure you check a few translations so you understand it and to double check how good yoru translation is!. Other than that, I don't want to give specific monologue suggestions, as I don't know you!. Ask people who know you and theater to help, or just flip through monologue books (but be careful of overdone monologues)!. Find one that feels comfortable with you, like something you could say sitting on your couch with your mom, or best friend, or girlfriend!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

oh, my middle school did honk! jr!. a couple years ago (i played penny, the swan) it's a really fun play!. i would suggest looking up monologues from the actual musical!. i know the cat had a couple really good ones, that would be great auditioning pieces!. break a leg!

EDIT: i just looked up on google "cat monologue honk jr" and the first one to come up is a good one!. it has one where the cat first meets ugly!. hope i helped :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

This may sound silly, but why not find some Disney/kids movies and try one of those evil-character's monologues!? That would be cute!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
