Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Gypsy's a pretty good musical, with some great numbers and a good story, that among other things, explores the relationship between an overbearing mother and her two daughters!.
There shouldn't be any reason that high school kids wouldn't understand it and enjoy it!.
There is no nudity, and any elements regarding the business of stripping are very tame, and the swearing is much less evident than it is in any modern movie!.
Nothing really inappropriate!.
Back in 1962, Gypsy was made into a very successful film starring Ethel Merman and a young Natalie Wood, with no objectionable elements!.

The real Gypsy never actually took her clothes off and I'm sure the students won't either and most likely won't swear!. The music is great!. It does seem like an odd choice but if done right it will probably be really very good!. You don't say if you are in the play or not but if you have objections, don't participate!. See if you can rent the movie with Rosalind Russell and Natalie Wood!. I think you might enjoy it!. The story is true and is about Gypsy Rose Lee!. Ask the drama teacher why it was chosen and how the touchy things will be handled!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have a feeling they'll censor the swear words!. There is no actual stripping; in fact, the main feature of Rose's act is that she *doesn't* strip!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

You will sell a lot of tickets, however!. Plan on more performances than usual; it will be a boon for the band fund or whatever!.
