Question: Audition Tips PLEASE HELP!!?
My high school is going to do Philadelphia Story (movie with Katherine Hepburn) and I'm auditioning for Dinah!. Does anyone have any tips on auditioning because I'm not that great when it comes to auditions!. I do fine on stage, but I get freaked out when I really want the part!. Any help is appreciated!. Hmm first off, let me tell you that auditions are nothing to be afraid of!. What I mean by that is that auditions don't really show a LOT about your acting talent so always try to put 100% of your personality into the script you're reading so the drama teacher can make a fair decision!. I'm an actor, too so I can tell you nerves are normal, but they can hurt you in an audition!. The smallest mistakes are the most noticeable!. Alright, your acting starts when you enter the room!. You feel nervous on the inside, but you have to look like you've done this a MILLION times before on the outside!. Professinality is what any director or drama teacher is looking for!. Simply say a calm 'hi' to Mr or Mrs!. ___ with a slight, polite smile!. Don't look like you're annoyed or look too obvious that you're faking it!. Don't EVER EVER shake the person's hand unless they hold it out to you!. The next step takes place before an auditon!. If you know a lot about Dinah's backstory, try to REALLY become her, and imagine that you're her!. Getting into character helps a lot!. Sometimes Drama teachers cut out parts that oyu rehearsed so don't put a 100% into one line that may not even be used!. If you just get the script on the spot, then maybe the drama teacher won't expect 100%!. also, don't be stiff!. Move your arms around and maybe take a few steps around!. Most importantly, NEVER turn your back to the teacher!.
Once you finish, give the script back to them if its theirs, exit the room with a calm thank you, and put it behind you!.
Good luck! =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Really it just depends on what they're doing the auditions!. I know at my local theatre they have workshops the week before the actual auditions therefore giving actors the chance to understand the audition process!. also, sometimes you can check out scripts!. I'd try that!. Otherwise, work on the character you're auditioning for, and smile!. also don't leave until they tell you to!. There have been some horrible misunderstandings in the past with people who have failed to wait!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

practice for your friends, your family, even ask the theater/music theater if you can have some help after school or just run through a piece you have prepared or something!. also, if it's a musical and you're going to be singing in the audition, it helps to record yourself and then listen back to it to see where you can improve!. when it comes to the actual day, just take deep breaths, close your eyes and concentrate only on what you are about to perform, not on anything or anybody around you!. i used to always just sit around waiting and talking to everybody just about how nervous i was- but this doesn't help a bit!. find a corner or a quiet place somewhere that you can just get "in the zone" , focus, and calm!. and when you go out there on stage, just smile and be very confident because those who are considering casting you can always tell when you're nervous or uncomfortable!. oh! and dont forget to thank the casting director at the end for their time- they will remember and appreciate it!. just do your best and i'm sure you'll do fine!

Smile, and act like you know the people and are comfortable around them (without being rude) don't look them right in the eye, as this can be unnerving!. don't take a paper or anything up with you, don't fiddle with your hands or clothes!. Be confident, even if you arent! You're an actress!! =D

GOOD LUCK!Www@QuestionHome@Com
