It's up to you what you should argue!. I'd say he's neither!. Yes he usurps the kingdom by killing Duncan, but if he hadn't heard a prophesy that he would do so, he never would have!. also he has numerous doubts about committing any evil throughout the play but it's Lady Macbeth (who I would consider the villain) is constantly urging him on!. But he's not a victim because he had the choice to ignore all of the above and go on being a soldier!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

macbeth is the villain!.
he wants to be king of cawdor, so he murders his cousin, the king and banishes his sons so that he is eligable to become king!. once he has the position of king, he murders anyone whom he is scared will take his place!. eventaully, he and his wife (who coaxes him to kill the king to begin with) go crazy with guilt and die!.
