Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It SHOULD NOT cost you much to get into acting and modeling, with a legitimate agency!. You can do independent work, or you can submit to a regular agent with your resume and head/body shots etc!. If they like you, they sign you!. There is NO MONEY PAID up front!. They may recommend you get professional/updated pictures, but they will not try to take any cash from you!. If you get booked for a job, they will take money once the client pays!. If they feel you need to take classes, they will recommend you take classes!. BUT, these things will not be required!. You don't have to take acting classes, dance lessons, modeling classes, monologue prep classes, etc!. You don't have to go to big huge cattle calls and pay money for the possibility of meeting an agent!. Anyone spending money on this stuff through these big scam companies is wasting their time and money!. Work independently for awhile if you can, and ask around when you meet other professionals!. Good sites I use are Craigslist (just be careful with these talent gigs!. Some are good, some are fake), Mandy!.com, and the Casting Networks (SFCasting, NYCasting, etc!.) if you are in a major city ($25 a year fee, and $5 a month to submit to as many roles as you want), etc!.You will make much better connections that way and have a stronger chance of landing a worthwhile agent!. But what Ive seen in other sites about it, they say that they cost a lot of money to go to this convention(roughly 700$) and you preform a monologue or modeling whatever/ infront of agents/at the end of the day they pick numbers(you get a # when you preform) and if you get picked you get a callback with that agency or agent!. You have to be SUPER talented to stand out from the group and it's a huge waste of money if you don't get through!.Www@QuestionHome@Com |
