How do I become an independent film actor ?

Question: How do I become an independent film actor !?

Where do I go!. How can I get cast!. I'm a 19 year old Male, I want to act in weird Independent films like "Kids" or"Gummo"!. I don't care about the Money, I want to act in cult movies!.

Movies do not start out with cult status, they become cult status through a series of events no one can quite predict!. Movie making is a highly speculative process!. If everyone knew before hand that one film would be an Oscar contender while another would be a cult status film there would by quite a few actors with deliberately different careers than what fate has left them with thus far!.

You would be best served by aiming towards being a professional actor, join the appropriate unions when the time comes, and possibly be represented by the appropriate agents when that time arises as well!.!. Indie films covers a broad range of film making from back yard special with a small HD camera to 10 million dollar film that no major studio would finance but would gladly distribute!.
