Question: Whats better theater major or just taking an acting class!?
My dream is to be an actress, like every other girl out there!.!.!.!. but I'm very serious about this!. I took a semester off from school to figure out what I wanna do and how I can reach my goal!. My option was to go to college and major in Theater or I could just not go to college altogether and take some acting classes, work on a resume, and get an agent!. If I did end up a theater major my worst fear would be graduating and still being in the same spot i am now wondering where to go next!.!.and I definitely do not want to end up a drama teacher and not have an acting career!. I need some advice about what the best choice for me would be!. I want to be and actress and part of me feels like majoring in theater might be a huge waste of time!.!.!.but college is what we all learn we have to do to succeed!.!.!.
And please don't lecture me on acting and how its a one in a million chance I've heard it, if your gonna write something nasty then please don't write at all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can always go back to school and get a degree, but you will not always have your youth as an asset to your wanting to become an actress!. I believe if you are mature enough to get a job and support yourself and otherwise devote your life to becoming and actress and if you have the personality qualifications, you might just become an actress!. Your fear is becoming a theatre major with no career, except as a drama teacher!? What makes you think you'd fare any better with acting classes, instead of a degree!? I can understand that ending up as a teacher would be a let-down after having such lofty dreams, but with acting classes, you can't even get that! You may end up in a career that has you asking:"You want fries with that!?" If you did end up a teacher, at least you'd get to direct shows, and guide youngsters into the profession that eluded you!. What can you do without a degree!? I don't mean this to be snotty, or to reinforce all the negatives that you've already heard (although I realize that's the affect it has)!. your best bet is to get an agent and start going out for job auditions!. you can take all the classes in the world and be a theater major, but you're not going to go anywhere without some natural born talent!. classes don't make the actor, they help sharpen the skills you are already born with!. Audition!. promote yourself!. the best way to get better is by actually being on the set of a commercial, TV show, whatever, acting with people who have been in the business a lot longer than you have!. learn from a
real director, not some acting teacher!. plus, you will save a lot of money and you will be getting paid, and isn't that what every actor wants!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
