Question: Auditioning for Wizard of Oz!?
I think my school might be doing the Wizard of Oz as our spring musical!. I've got 2 months until the auditions about, but I need to do really well!. We have a new teacher this year, I didn't get put in drama 2 so she doesn't know me, and she cast the fall play almost exclusively from her classes!. I'm a sophomore, and I had a decent part in the musical last year!. I'd like to get another decent part this year!. I'm an alto!. I don't know what I'd like to audition for!. Any ideas for songs or monologues!? Can't be from the musical!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
For the Wizard of Oz, whatever you do!.!.do not use anything from Wicked!
That is going to be extremely overdone!

I would suggest looking for something from
Into The Woods
Side Show
Beauty and The Beast

most importantly what role are you going for!?

also, if you want the teacher to know you!. Then why not involve yourself with the fall play (if it hasn't already passed)!. See if you can tech!. You might also want to go by and introduce yourself!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Find yourself another Harold Arlen song - he wrote hundreds of great songs, and he's the composer who wrote Wizard of Oz!. If you're an alto then Dorothy is probably not an option, and neither is Glinda (Dorothy is a mezzo, Glinda a soprano)!. I've often seen the Scarecrow and TinMan played by a girl, so that could be an option for you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you should wear something nice and make sure you speak loud and clearWww@QuestionHome@Com
