Question: I'm doubting myself and my future!? help!?!!?
I want to be an actress when I grow up and (not to sound conceited because I am really not) I know i am good at it!. I have done many elite acting programs and studied in NYC and LA!. I have been offered agent contracts and such!. People have told me to go for it and start auditioning for commercials, but when i tried out for my simple school play!.!.!.I got a role with NO LINES!. I nailed my audition and I don't know where I went wrong!. I'm starting to doubt I will ever be able to make it as an actress!. I know my chances are slim but I am SO dedicated nad i love it so much!. It is my life and my whole world revolves around it!. I don't portray a character, I become my character!. I'm not especially smart at school and I'm not very good at anything besides acting (and sort of singing)!. I'm scared I won't make it!. I love it so much and if I don't get to be an actress (not even a succesful one, as long as I am doing acting work [not teacher, actually acting] I can't be happy) advice!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Every single person who was cast in all the school plays at my high school has gone into something besides drama, even those who gave NYC or L!.A!. a good serious shot!.

Every single person from my H!.S!. who is a professional actor got crappy parts or no parts in our HS productions!.

The ONLY people I know who were drama superstars in HS were Matt Damon and Ben Affleck!. I knew them from the Boston Globe Drama competition that both their school and mine entered!. They were such brilliant writers (they wrote their own show for that competition) that they were going to succeed anyway, although you may note that Ben Affleck is a better writer than he is an actor!.

High School is an indication of NOTHING!. Get as much experience as you can whether in school, community theater or other productions but do not, I repeat NOT buy into the High School mindset!. If you are better than that, then be bigger that that!Www@QuestionHome@Com

have you auditioned for any movies!? i don't think that commercials would give you the satisfaction that something else would!. also some times the no liners become the star of the show because they do the character so well!. maybe you got that part because your teacher knew that you could do it way better than anyone else!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No lines!? Quelle dommage!. What a heartbreaker!. Awww!.!.!.!.!.!.

Suck it up!.

Do your role, and zip it!. You are vital to the Show!. The Show is what matters!. If the Show is successful, you are successful!.

It is never about you, and always about the Show!. You would not be cast if you did not have something to give to the Show!. Smile, be polite, and always give something to the Show!.

P!.S!. : So what is wrong with teaching!? Some of us are "actually" acting, teaching, and volunteering our time helping people like you!.

Y!A does not include any remuneration!. We do it because we want to!.

We do it for you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Don't let your casting in the school play get you down!. In high school, just like in the real world, pure talent isn't the only indicator of who'll get which part!. Maybe you didn't look like any of the speaking roles!. Maybe the director thinks some of the people in the speaking roles have hidden talents that could be brought out with some experience!. Maybe they want people that will grow from the experience!. Maybe you had too many scheduling conflicts!. There are a million reasons why you might have gotten the part you did!. If you're concerned, talk to the director when you have some free time, and ask about your audition!. What went well!? What should you improve on!? (It's just school, it's okay to do that sort of thing if you do so tactfully!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

ugh!. High School!. Dont let that stop you from ANYTHING!. srsly, dont worry about it!. A HS play isnt going to give you any kind of indication as to how good an actress you are!. Just keep going for it!. be perseverant and I know this sounds cliche, but dont give up and fake it till you make it!. really! do as many auditions as you can handle at once- even if you dont get it, it is a good experience for you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Lets fast forward a few years and say that you're auditioning for roles on TV or in film!. First, you will audition for and not get more roles than you will ever actually win!. That's just the nature of the business!. Do you realize also that an actor can "nail" an audition and still not get the role due to factors outside of his or her control!? "Nailing" an audition has more to do with how you feel about your performance than it does any outside impression which is why you must learn to leave it all on the stage or in the room!. If you feel you've done your job to the best of your ability then that's all anyone can ask of you!. Let it go and move on to the next thing!.

If you do not develop a thick skin now the professional side of the business will crush you!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
