You are feeling upset, that's because you really wanted the part!. There's nothing wrong with that!. But in this profession, we all learned (or will learn) that once we step outside of a casting session, we leave everything behind!.

Did you know that Chris Evans auditioned for his role in "The Nanny Diaries" SEVERAL times before he finally won and got offered role!? Can you imagine how many Male Actors who are in their late 20s, 6' tall, with all American Boy Next Door-look are out in Hollywood!? Thousands!. Other actors who didn't make the cut, already moved on and continue to audition for other projects!. They left everything behind - because there's really no point on hanging onto the past!.

The number of lines given to the actors at an audition has nothing to do how the Casting Director choose his/her Actors!. It's about how well you perform, and if you really fit the role!.

No body really know what the Casting Directors are thinking!. They have a specific idea, and just looking for talents who came close to that 'ideal' characteristic, or someone who can bring a totally different, refreshing approach to the character!.

You didn't get the part, that doesn't mean you are a bad actress!. Mabye, it's just not the role for you at this time!.

Here is a great quote from LA-based Casting Director Ivy Isenberg:

"I'm really hungry!. I walk into a bakery!. I feel like eating a Blueberry Muffin!. So I pay for it!. But that doesn't mean their Chocolate Chip muffin is not delicious!. Or their cranberry muffin sucks!. It just happened that I wanted a Blueberry Muffins that day!."

So, toss everything out of the window!. Be happy for those who got offered the role!. They can say things, they can brag about things - just let them be!. Don't let them influence you in anyway!.

And don't be so hard on yourself!. You've already got a call back!. What about those people who didn't even get a 2nd chance to audition!?

Continue to study and work on your technique!. Find other auditions that are in the areas - or even, take any classes that you feel will help you grow as an artist!. There are other productions and auditions out there waiting for you!.

"I really believe in keeping your energy positive; and if you have passion for this business and you enjoy it!. You already succeeded" (another quote from Ivy Isenberg)

Be professional!. Be open minded!. And Be Positive!. Having a big heart and patience will take you a long way!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd probably feel like that too!. Don't worry about it!. There'll be plenty more plays!. It probably wasn't fair that the teacher gave you less lines than the other girls!. Maybe you could talk to that teacher about it!? If you get in the play, don't worry if you get a smaller part than you'd like!. "There are no small parts, only small actors" :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sounds like you care about acting a lot!. It just means you have to practice and get good!. Maybe you should try auditioning for another play or taking acting lessons!. Let being upset that you didn't get the part drive you to excel!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Silver lining - you're clearly very dedicated if it hurt you that much!. In the long run, that will help you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's a really hard disappointment, and it's totally normal to be that upset!. It's hard to be so close and work so hard, and build up such high expectations and to imagine yourself as the part, only to have it all taken away!.

The good thing is, you have the rest of your life to be in shows - this isn't the last one, and I'm sure you learned something during your audition process!. Next time, you'll do even better, you'll have more experience than last time!. You'll be more likely to get a part!.

It's hard, especially at first, and it's REALLY hard to be supportive of your friends who made it!. But just put a smile on, even if it's fake, and tell them you're so happy for them, even if you don't mean it!. In time, you WILL be happy for them because you can imagine how happy you would have been to get the part!.

Most importantly, don't feel any kind of regrets or what ifs!.!.!. the past is done, and no amount of imagining a different audition scenario will change it!. I used to think "if only I had sat in THAT chair, i would have gotten to say more lines, and would have gotten the part" but the truth is, the "if onlys" only made me more upset in the present!. Start thinking about the future, about what you can do in the present to make yourself the best you can be so that no director can ignore you during auditions :)

Best of luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
