Question: Whats a good outlet to start in acting for someone who has no experience but really feels they have the talent!?
any programs or anything!. Im 22, live in NYC!?!!?! Thanks!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Good that you are in NYC!. There are plenty of opportunities!.

But why not enrolled in local acting schools!? Since you are 22, I assume you are probably done with College!.

Here are some schools that I'd recommend for starting actors, if you are not considering a 1 or 2 years conservatory program:

Herbert Berghof Studio (HB Studio)
Sally Johnson Studio
The Barrow Group
Weist-Baron Studio
Penny Templeton Studio

Take an Acting Technique class, and see if you really feel that you can channel your talent and apply the technique in class!.
Further your training when you feel that you can commit to acting as a career!.

You have to combined bothTalent & Skills in order to be successful!.

Like what was mentioned above, doing Extra works can be fun, if you are new to the scene!. But I'm not sure if there's something you can 'test' out your talent!. You will learn about how the film/tv production works from doing Extra Jobs - who's involved, the staff, the amount time!.!.!.!.etc!. If you are interested in doing background works, you can visit Grant Wilfley Casting at http://www!.gwcnyc!.com (there 's submission information on the website)

I would also recommend you to get a copy of Backstage paper (available at Newsstands every Thursday) - it has a casting section that you can send your picture and info to!. See if you will get invited to an audition!. It will also give you an idea where you fit in in the Industry!.
http://www!.mandy!.com is also a good resource for casting calls!.

There are plently of Student/Indie Film projects that doens't require an actor with extended credits/experiences!. NYFA open have open calls for their school projects, so keep an eye out for any listings online or in paper!.

Get yourself involved, and follow your dream!.

Good Luck!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Step one would be to see if you do have talent, but a class is not where you will discover that as they want your money and will tell you that you are good enough so you will keep coming back!. What you should do is find a community theatre, an amateur production company, where you can audition for roles and see if you get any and how well you do with them!. This is experience that will go on your resume as well!. It doesn't make sense to me to spend money on classes before you really know if you have talent!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Pick up a copy of the weekly newspaper Back Stage!. You can find it at lots of newsstands and at the Drama Book Shop!. It's full of ads for acting classes!.
