Position:Home>Theater & Acting> How can I make this love scene less awkward?Question: How can I make this love scene less awkward!? I'm doing an arena that's a romance scene!. The guy who plays opposite me is really really shy and doesn't drop the shyness when he's acting!. He couldn't even hug me the right way he's so awkward!. We're supposed to kiss and if he can't even hug me I'm very concerned how that'll turn out!. What can I do to help make things less awkward!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Talk to whoever is directing this scene and see what they suggest you can do and perhaps it will prompt them to do their job!. I think that going out for coffee with this guy could actually backfire and make him more nervous!.!.!. possibly!. Www@QuestionHome@Com Hang out with him outside of acting!. Ask him to go to your house, or the mall, or out for coffee, just so you two can get a little more comfortable around each other since you're to be all over each other in the performance!. That way the two of you can get a little more acquainted, without it seeming too obvious to him that you aren't happy with his actions!. The more time the two of you spend with each other, the less nervous he'll be around you, and the problem will fix itself!. If that doesn't work, then just take him aside and talk to him about it!. Let him know you're concerned about his shyness getting in the way of the overall feeling of the characters, and you'd like it if he could try to amp it up, and add a little oomph to the performance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com How passionate is the kiss supposed to be!? How driven is his character to kiss you, or vice versa!? Does he kiss you or do you kiss him!? I very simple, even shy kiss can be effective in the right circumstances - if it is played well!. Is there something you can do with your character to make a shy kiss seem like somethng very important!? Can you turn the tables and take charge of the kiss so that a little squirming on his part would seem in character!? Can you just tell him that you will do the work, that he should just close his eyes and take one for the team!? One of the other people was right, the bottom line is that this is a directors problem (or nightmare), there are a few things you can try with your character, or with him, but essentially its a directors choice how to play the scene!.Www@QuestionHome@Com He's nervous around you and the best way to get him to feel more conforatble around you is to hang out with you more!. If he's actin shy its because he likes you!. In order to make the scene better you guys need to keep practicing it over and over again until he thinks he is hugging his mother or better yet his sister!.
